Personal life

Arteta's wife is the former 'Miss Spain' Lorena Bernal. with whom he has a son. He is close friends with Xabi Alonso, who plays for Real Madrid. The two used to be neighbours at Liverpool's Albert Dock apartment complex.

Arteta is multilingual, speaking fluent Spanish, Basque and Catalan. He speaks English and some French and Italian. He is also learning Portuguese.
